Many of us go to a concert by the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra or other orchestras and listen to symphonies, but have very little idea of their construction and what to listen for. In an attempt to enhance your listening experience, we will address these topics using excerpts from the DVD series “The Symphony” given by Robert Greenberg, Ph.D. We will cover the early history and development of the symphony form and its changes through the ages from the Baroque to contemporary periods, with examples from all. Questions and discussion will be included as time permits. Instructor: Nancy Whitman, emerita associate professor, Music and Performing Arts, University of Nebraska at Kearney Facilitator: Leta Powell Drake
Fee: $30.00
